The Iroquois County Chamber of Commerce (formerly the Gilman Chamber of Commerce) says help is needed to continue the Super Saturday celebration which is typically held the Saturday after Labor Day each fall.
The Gilman Chamber originated the event over 20 years ago as a means of bringing people to town and the event has had very good years and years where the weather didn’t cooperate, the chief threat to a car show. Last year a heavy rain stopped the event.
We can remember as many as 88 autos coming to the show filling Central Street from East Third to the Hometown Family Foods parking lot.
In the years following the inaugural event the Slow Boys Antique Tractor Club joined the event and has become a successful show in its own right.
A planning meeting has been set for Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Garage Community Center and would welcome all who can come.
