The Iroquois West board of education held a special session last Wednesday night to formally approve a tax abatement for Incobrasa and start the hiring process for a new superintendent of schools. The Brazilian soybean processor Incobrasa is in the process of expanding their operation just west of Gilman on U.S. 24. New additions to the plant mean $66,000 in new property taxes for the IW school district and the board has agreed to abate 75 per cent of that total for 10 years. That means IW will receive $16,000 in new taxes now.
