Taylor Talbert of rural Onarga took top honors in the fair’s livestock judging last week when her steer was named the 4-H grand champion steer.

The steer sold for $10,000 at the fair’s annual auction and was purchased by a group of buyers to include Nutrien Ag Solutions, Conley and Scherf Cattle, Donaldson Equipment, Wischmier Trucking, Manahan Farms, State Rep. Tom Bennett, Umbarger Feeds, Walder Farms, Federated Bank, Dralles of Watseka, Gray Transport, Mowrey Auction Co., Iroquois Farmers State Bank, Duis Farms, Rapp Surface Drainage, Zumwalt Aviation, John and Mary Blake, Terry Burton Farm Management, AHW, Chad Markley Farms & Trucking.

Taylor is the daughter of Tim and Anna Talbert. She is a member of the Iroquois West FFA and the Danforth Blue Ribbon 4-H and will be attending the University of Illinois in the fall and her dad suggested the prize money would come to good use when tuition bills start coming. The total figure for the livestock sale for the fair was $161,258.
