Jessica Belik, Ali Fisher and co-op shooter, Charlotte Gullquist, recently returned from the N.R.A. National Air Gun Championships held at Camp Perry, OH., the last week of June. The three shooters were chosen to be members of the Illinois State Team. The team was selected based on individual rankings in the Illinois State N.R.A. Championship held last April at Illinois State University.

Belik fired on the four person Illinois State Precision Team. She shot two personal highs at the championship with scores of 575/600 and 578/600 respectively. Belik’s 1153 total placed her in the upper third of the precision individual competition. The Illinois Precision Team placed 11th overall and fifth place in the State Association Team category with a 4615/4800 team score.

Fisher and Gullquist fired on the four person Illinois State Sporter Team. Fisher fired a personal high of 490/600 on the second day of the competition. Fisher’s total of 971/1200 made her the top shooter on the Illinois Team. Gullquist’s best score was 438/600 and she had a two day total of 867/1200. Gullquist was plagued with rifle problems when the spring broke on her rifle’s pressure regulator. The rifle was repaired and she was able to complete the competition. The Illinois State Sporter Team ranked in 14th place and was 7th in the State Association Team category.

I.W. Rifle Coach, Jim Miller, stated that it is a “high honor” to be chosen to represent the state and to compete at this level. In recent years, I.W. shootists have achieved this honor nearly a dozen times.
